Yes addons can do things like moving a camera further back or changing an FoV and yes using anything such as an addon is against FFXIVs ToS, but so is all recording software like shadowplay, all extra huds like Discord, the list goes on.ĭeciding to go to war against something so incredibly stupid only shows that you are a pathetic individual who hates player agency and accessibility. Reshade and Gshade change things like colour or add other tech like anti aliasing, but can go further like adding speech bubbles that to this day confuse me why its not in game as default like every other successful MMO in existence, but chosing to limit it to NPC only. Nobody would ever use anything if it cause more bad than good. Coming up with such proven falsities as injectors causing more harm then good. Jack here is a purist, he has never used somthing like an addon in his nor does he like others doing so. I always report in game when i noticed someone using a meter and now im sure they will make it harder to use addons by the next xpac or so. History has shown that most injectors cause more harm then good. Gshade is NOT ok to use nor any shader now should be used since it proves any 3rd party tool that does any changes to the game should never be used. They simply don't like how intrusive and borderline privacy breaking and illegal anti-tamper software is. Either way, I imagine Yoshi-P would have to be pushed a lot farther by players being stupid, or overruled from on high before anti-tamper software was added to the game. I'm not sure whether it's fair to say it's a cultural thing or not, but it does seems like a fairly prevailing attitude that most Japanese development teams aren't thrilled with the use of anti-tamper software, ironically for the same reasons they aren't thrilled with third-party tools, probably. Discord can "enhance" your experience playing FFXIV, but it does not directly interact with or modify FFXIV in any way, so there is nothing Square Enix could do about it even if they were upset about Discord being used to communicate with other FFXIV players.Īs for anti-tamper, I really doubt it. It would be the same as being upset at Discord. There is nothing for Square Enix to be upset about because it doesn't not violate Terms of Service. It does not directly interact with or modify any of FFXIV's files. An oversimplification but it basically interacts with your display drivers to adjust settings. All ReShade (and GShade by extension) is, is an injector. That doesn't have anything to do with it's ability to interact with the game. Then all you cheaters will be gone forever. Keep it yourself in all forms and you will never get in trouble for it. People can continue to mod the game as long as they aren't stupid. GShade and Reshade do neither of those things so they are allowed on principle.Īnyway, topic at hand, the status quo is likely to remain the same. Square Enix' Terms of Service specifically states third-party tools that interact with or modify the games files and assets are not allowed. GShade and ReShade are fine to use from a third-party perspective because there is nothing Square Enix can say or do about their use. It's funny cos in another thread there were some 'people' convinced it's one of the 'okay' mods to use, even right after Yoshi saying no mods are okay and to stop putting words in his mouth like that.
